Background
In May 2020 I took a month-long furlough from my Web Analytics job at Gogo. I found myself in a funny position - a whole month with no work, no way to travel, and plenty of free time.
I decided to pick up an online Graphic Design class at CalArts. The course culminated in a brand development project where we created a brand concept and design guidelines for a fictional startup company.
I drew on my love for trains and interest in sustainability to dream up Locomotiv - an admittingly far-fetched transcontinental vacuum train network.
The project was a chance for me to put on my beginners cap and explore my interest in graphic design. I had fun, I learned a ton, and I found a passion project to get me through a month of pandemic boredom.
